As you might expect, there will be paperwork to fill out. You may have insurance that covers chiropractic care, so please bring your insurance card(s) with you. (Call Harman Chiropractic Center to make your appointment a day or so in advance; we can usually confirm what benefits you have before you arrive. Items that we need to contact your insurance company are: your name as it appears on the insurance card, the ID number, Group number, and your Date of Birth. There are frequently initials such as PPO, HMO, etc. It is also sometimes helpful to have the Provider's toll-free number from the back of the card. You can phone, fax, or email the data to us.)

Next, you'll sit down with me, Dean Harman, DC, and review your medical history, including surgeries, accidents, medications, and PRIOR THERAPY, HOME CARE, or treatment that has helped or failed.
Next is orientation. If this is your first experience with me, we'll review basic information about your spine and joints using models and other devices. We also review how my specialty, Activator Technique®, differs from what you may have experienced AND we want to clear up any “myths” you might have heard about chiropractic care. Generally X-rays are not required in the first 30 days unless certain "red flags" exist. If you have prior X-rays, MRIs, or CT scans, please bring them with you.

Following orientation is your physical examination, including orthopedic and neurologic testing. Assuming that there are no contraindications by this time, your chiropractic care in my office begins the same day, saving you an extra trip. Generally, your first visit to the Harman Chiropractic Center requires about one hour and 15 minutes with me, Dean Harman, DC. Subsequent visits are 15 – 20 minutes, depending on whether adjunctive therapy is needed. We schedule carefully. Our pledge to you is to keep wait time under 15 minutes for your care. Naturally, that means you must likewise schedule with care so that we can, together, keep our promise.

Chiropractic care is efficient and efficacious, but unless you have just had an accident, the original incident may have taken place weeks or months ago, even years. But all you have to work with are when your SYMPTOMS began. Initial frequency of care can vary from daily to once weekly, depending on the severity of your condition. Generally, care is more frequent initially, tapering off as you recover. Once stable, you may wish to choose supportive or maintenance care with me, Dean Harman, DC and the Harman Chiropractic Center, rather than wait till symptoms become unbearable again.
